Roots and Wings

Children need two things: roots and wings.
~ Chinese Proverb

This is the title of a new blog that I am loving! The blogger is one of my best friends in Austin and she is a child psychiatrist who is passionate about children. She created the blog to "provide encouragement and inspiration for littles". Her most recent blog is about babies dreams with a link to a blog from a lady who imagines what her baby is dreaming and then creates a whimsical scene around her napping daughter. You must check it out! Other entries include quotes about "littles" and tidbits of information about child development that are so interesting! This blog is worth following - thanks Jean!

Slacker

I have been a total slacker when it comes to the blog lately, so I spent some time updating it. Enjoy these recent posts:

Squeakers

I got Anna some new squeaker shoes the other day and taped her right after she put them on. I know you parents out there are thinking "why would you do that to yourself?". Thankfully, you can take the squeakers out of the shoes. I also like when she wears them because I can always tell where she is.

Baby Animals

Just a cute video of Anna being different animals. My favorite has the be the donkey...it is the cutest little hee-haw I've ever heard!

Water Baby

Since it is summer in Texas, we have been spending a lot of time in the water. Growing up, I spent almost every single day of the summer at Shadow Cliff Swim Club. I have some great memories from there (except for the time my sister pushed me in the pool and chipped my front tooth), so I am glad that Anna seems to enjoy the water.

In May, Anna and I did a parent-child swim class to get her ready for summer. As with most new things, she was very cautious at first but never cried and was kicking and splashing by the end of it. Although Anna enjoyed it, I think I had more fun than she did :).

I love the way her belly hangs out in this bathing suit...you won't be able to get away with this forever little girl! Is this really the same baby girl?
Thank you to whoever thought of spraygrounds!

Still trying to work on blowing bubbles instead of swallowing the water :).
